electronic  board is one of the must have gadgets these days. Packed with clever electronics it has all the popular  games programmed into it so relieving you of the chore of “chalking” the score. Not only that, some of them even “talk” to you, hurling abuse for poor throws or cheering you on for good throws. Also there are lots of variations of the popular games like extended cricket and double in variations of the 501 and 301 games. With some of the boards there are solo options so you can play the board on your own for practice. I know there is some heated debate about the electronic game vs the standard steel tip game on the Bristle  boards, but even that is being addressed with the new Bristle Tech boards from Halex that combines the advantages of the electronic game with the ability to take traditional steel tip darts as well as the soft tip darts.

There are now two types of electronic  board around, the standard board with hundreds of holes in it and the new so called “BristleTech” board, which has fibres like the classic bristle boards and you can use both steel tip and soft tip darts on, with the advantages of the electronics as well. This is truly the best of both worlds and is surely the way of the future.

The best example of this new technology is the Halex Armada BristleTech board with a laser toe line built in as well! So you get to use whatever darts you like and the built in laser shows you where to throw from as well, fantastic! So both types of darts players can make use of this board. Who knows, the electronic boards may be used in the big tournaments like the Las Vegas Classic before long.

There are standard wall mounted boards and the arcade style that doesn’t need to be set up, as they are free standing and the board is already mounted for you at the correct height. (Great! no drilling) The latest electronic  boards are relatively cheap, at a starting price of around $50 to $300 for the all singing, all dancing arcade types.

Be aware the wall version of the electronic  board is larger than their bristle type cousins , so if you get a cabinet for it, make sure you get a bigger one to put it in. Please ensure that if you get a  board cabinet for your electronic board that it will fit the cabinet, there are cabinets made to fit the larger boards.
